Cheadle Hulme’s worst kept secret is out: introducing The Station House, opening autumn 2025

The rumours are true: we’re proud to announce that we’ll be heading back to Cheadle Hulme, with The Station House set to open this autumn in a joint collaboration between ourselves and iconic Manchester-based brewery Joseph Holt.

Located next to the village train station in what was previously the Platform 5 pub, the building is currently undergoing a full refurbishment, both inside and out. The revamped pub will feature a stunning new interior with a focus on high-quality finish and furnishings. The 1930’s classic design evokes the glory days of rail travel with ornate decor, a bar of brass and marble with plush leather booths. The exterior promises to be unrecognisable. showing off the handsome building, including a 100-seat raised sun terrace and widened, inviting entryways.

The sophisticated look will be matched by a fresh menu. Our existing four pubs will continue to offer their famous carvery but the Station House promises to offer a different service: Sundays will feature an elevated plated traditional British roast choice, staying true to Almond Family Pubs’ standards of quality.

The Station House will be our fifth Almond Family Pub, and our first in collaboration with Joseph Holt. Some of the brewery’s award-winning beers and ales will continue to be served, alongside international lagers and the full tipples menu beloved by our guests.

Our founder Doug Almond, said “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for our family. We have a reputation in Stockport for serving quality food and drink, in beautifully furnished, traditional pubs, by the friendliest teams around. Not to mention our strong ties with Cheadle Hulme, having previously run a popular pub in the area.  Holts are well known for their traditional northern hospitality and excellent beer so when the opportunity arose for a potential partnership we were keen to pursue.  We have grand plans for the pub and look forward to working together to breathe new life into this impressive, landmark building. This pub will be our biggest, grandest, most opulent design scheme yet – in fact I don’t know of a pub that will match it in decadence. In addition, guests can expect our trademark AFP welcome, service and atmosphere while you enjoy your crafted drink or delicious dinner.”

Richard Kershaw, CEO of Joseph Holt added “The Almond family have a fine track record for running some very successful pubs. In taking over the tenancy of what will become The Station House, this is an exciting way forward for the pub. Bringing together two family-run businesses with shared values and local roots will be a new and dynamic chapter for this landmark pub and for our company as it continues to look for exciting opportunities now and in the future.”

The newly renovated pub is due to re-open in the Autumn. Those wishing to stay informed of the opening can sign up for updates at almond-pubs.co.uk/the-station-house or below

Thanks again to all who donated to our raffle, or purchased a strip of tickets (or more) – your contributions mean a lot, and all fund raised go directly to Foundation for Prader-Willi Research.

2025 was maybe our best year ever, with over 400 walkers all taking One Small Step as we raised funds for Foundation for Prader-Willi Research UK.

The charity is one close to the family’s heart, as Bella, Vicki Williams’ daughter was diagnosed with the rare genetic condition when she was 3 weeks old. With your support, we’ll continue to fundraise for research, with every penny contributed taking us closer to finding therapies and medication that will help all of those who have Prader-Willi syndrome.

You can register your interest to join us on the walk in 2026 below – we’ll send you an email once registrations are open early next year.

Can you spot yourself? Our photographers made sure to take plenty of snaps over the course of the day – especially at the finish line. Relive the magic, and find your medal-worthy moment in our online One Small Step gallery below – or share them from our Facebook gallery here, plus an Instagram reel with footage from the day too.

Read our thank you to all here, or register your interest for One Small Step 2026 here.

We’re delighted to that we are finalists in the Publican Awards!

The Publican Awards are renowned in the hospitality industry for recognising the best operators in the sector within a wide range of categories, picking out the businesses that set the standards for the rest to follow.

We are finalists in the Best Operations Teams category, which refers to our wonderful support team who have been nominated due to their effectiveness in innovation, leadership and business success.

Please wish us the best of luck for the future interviews and announcement in March.

This week has been an exciting one for Almond Family Pubs. We’ve been endorsed not one, not twice, but 3 times! And by some very famous faces…

On Friday 27th September GM Dave and the team were visited by local legends ‘The Blossoms’ to celebrate their 4th Number 1 album, a massive achievement and very well-deserved… Well done guys.

As you can see our General Manager, Dave was only too happy to take a photo with the guys.

The Spread Eagle have also got their fair share of fame….The Manchester Evening News recently asked their followers to name their favourite spots when came to a carvery or a Sunday roast. They received hundreds and hundreds of responses and our very own Spread Eagle got an honourable mention, with one customer saying “so much choice, meats, veg, potatoes and gravy”. Another said: “The staff are all so lovely and friendly. They can’t do enough.”

Well done team Spread!

Last but definitely not least… The Jolly sailor was recently mentioned by the VERY famous Jason Manford. Jason Manford is local to the area and has been spotted a few times in the Jolly, enjoying a carvery or participating in our weekly quiz.. When recently interviewed, Jason was asked his favourite pub and after a thought, he said the Jolly Sailor!! We’re so pleased to be mentioned and we look forward to welcoming him back soon!
