Across all Almond Family Pubs this All Hallows’ Eve, we’re inviting little ones in for some spooky delights. Any under 14s joining us are welcome to get involved in our design your own pumpkin activity sheet, with the spookiest design winning a free dessert – to be announced on our socials shortly afterwards.
Food is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re delighted to introduce our new Autumn/Winter menu, filled with warming dishes made for the colder months. From rich mains like our Red Wine & Rosemary Braised Lamb Shank and Garlic King Prawn & Chorizo Linguine, to globally inspired flavours such as the Sri Lankan Chicken Curry and Shawarma Pulled Chicken Flatbread, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
We’ve also kept plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, including our Spiced Cauliflower & Spinach Balti Pie, Wild Mushroom Arancini, and Grilled Goat’s Cheese Salad.

We’ve got some great news for you: our kitchen is now open all day, every day here with us at The Spread Eagle. While we formerly had a little break in the middle of weekdays, you asked and we’ve listened: you can now enjoy our main menu from 12pm right through until 8.30pm, Monday to Sunday.

With the interiors renovated late last year, we’re pleased to announce that the Spread Eagle’s exterior work has now been completed: giving our historic pub a brand new colour, and an entirely new look.
Romiley locals will be well aware that we spent much of the summer under scaffolding while work took place, with our frontage managing to enjoy the final few weeks of sun at the end of August. However, the entire job is now complete – with the extensive work done to the side of the building finally on show.
Situated just off the Peak Forest Canal, the Spread Eagle’s doors have been open since 1722 – originally a spot for weary travellers, it is now beloved by locals and the wider Stockport community. A Grade II listed building, our renovations have been lovingly and carefully done to maintain and enhance the character of the original build.
As well as a new forest green colour for our frontage, for the first time since the Almond Family took up tenancy of the Spread Eagle – and the first time in many people’s memories! – the rendering on the side elevation of the building has been taken back to expose the original brickwork, giving us a whole new look.
