Occasions We Host

Our pubs regularly host large groups and gatherings for all sorts of occasions. That ranges from the professional – work drinks, team celebrations, presentations and business meetings – through to much more personal events, including birthdays, christenings, anniversaries, retirement parties, festive get-togethers and wakes. Whatever brings your group together, our teams will help you plan the day, from where you’ll sit to what you’ll eat and drink.

Every one of our pubs serves an extensive menu alongside well-kept ales, with our famous carvery available daily at the Puss in Boots, Spread Eagle and Fletchers Arms, and every Sunday at the Jolly Sailor. We also cater for all dietary requirements, with dedicated vegetarian and vegan menus and a No Gluten Ingredients (NGI) menu available at every pub, so nobody in your group misses out.

Large Bookings vs Venue Hire: Which Do I Need?

A large booking is a reserved table (or tables) for your group within the pub, while the pub stays open as normal. It’s perfect for big meals out, celebrations and get-togethers where you want great food and drink without needing a space all to yourselves. If that sounds right for your occasion, use the enquiry form above.

Venue hire gives you a dedicated space for your event, ideal for private parties, larger functions and occasions where you’d like more exclusivity. If you’re looking to hire one of our pubs as a venue, head to our venue hire page, or go straight to the pub you have in mind: hire the Puss in Boots in Offerton, hire the Spread Eagle in Romiley, hire the Fletchers Arms in Denton, hire the Jolly Sailor in Davenport or hire The Station House in Cheadle Hulme.

Not sure which is right for you? Make an enquiry either way and our team will point you in the right direction.

Large Booking FAQs

How many people counts as a large booking?

We class groups of 12 or more as a large booking at the Puss in Boots, Spread Eagle, Fletchers Arms and Jolly Sailor, and groups of 10 or more at The Station House. For smaller groups, you can book online at each pub’s booking page any day of the week.

How do I make a large booking at an Almond Family Pub?

Simply complete the enquiry form at the top of this page, letting us know your preferred pub, date, time and party size, plus anything else that will help us plan your visit. A member of the team will then be in touch to talk everything through and confirm your booking.

How quickly will I hear back about my enquiry?

We aim to respond to all enquiries as soon as possible. If you enquire over the weekend, it may not be possible for our teams to reply until the following Monday. For anything urgent, please call your chosen pub directly and a member of the team will be happy to help.

Do I need to pay a deposit for a large booking?

A deposit may be required for large bookings – your pub will let you know what’s needed when confirming your booking. On Sundays and other key dates, we may also ask for debit or credit card details to secure your table. Rest assured, these are held in a secure, PCI-DSS compliant vault, and you won’t be charged unless plans change. A charge of £10 per person applies to any no-shows, reduced numbers or cancellations that we’re not told about at least 24 hours before your booking.

What occasions can I book for?

All sorts. Our pubs regularly host birthdays, christenings, anniversaries, retirement parties, festive get-togethers and wakes, as well as work drinks, team celebrations, presentations and business meetings. Whatever the occasion, let us know in your enquiry and we’ll help you plan the perfect visit.

What food is available for large groups?

Every one of our pubs serves an extensive menu of pub favourites, with our famous carvery served daily at the Puss in Boots, Spread Eagle and Fletchers Arms, and every Sunday at the Jolly Sailor. We also have dedicated vegetarian and vegan menus and a No Gluten Ingredients (NGI) menu, so everyone in your group is well looked after. If anyone has specific dietary requirements or allergens, just let us know when you enquire.

What’s the difference between a large booking and venue hire?

A large booking reserves a table or tables for your group while the pub stays open as normal – perfect for big meals out and celebrations. Venue hire gives you a dedicated space for your event, ideal for private parties and larger functions. Find out more about hiring our pubs as venues here.

A member of my group has accessibility needs – what do I do?

If anyone in your group requires wheelchair access, high chairs, or has any other accessibility requirements, just let us know in your enquiry, or call your chosen pub and speak to the duty manager. We’ll make sure everything is ready for your visit.

Is a large booking any different on a Sunday?

If you’re booking for a Sunday, you’ll be dining from our Sunday menu and prices may vary. On Sundays and other key dates, we ask for card details to secure your table. Please note that the majority of our special offers and vouchers are not available on Sundays.

How long will we have our table for?

As standard, we’ll need your table back 2 hours after your booking time. If your group would like longer, just mention it in your enquiry and your pub will let you know what’s possible.
