One Small Step Pub Walk 2025

Date: 27/03/2025

Our One Small Step Pub Walk 2025, proudly raising money for Foundation for Prader-Willi Research UK, was our biggest yet, and we were thrilled to have so many of you be a part of it as we aimed to make history.

We were delighted to organise our 11th annual charity pub walk for the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research UK, which took place on the 12th July 2025. Thanks to our combined efforts, we raised just over £167,000 and were proud to see this figure continue to grow. The research that FPWR UK finances is vital to making the lives of those affected by Prader-Willi Syndrome more manageable.

Online registration had closed in advance, but many joined us on the day by signing up at the Fletchers Arms from 9.30am.

If you’d still like to donate to FPWR UK in support of the walk, you can do so via our One Small Step JustGiving page – it’s also a great place for any remaining fundraising efforts.

Not only was this a fantastic day for our pubs and the local community, but it was also a brilliant opportunity to catch up with friends, get some steps in, and raise money for a cause so close to our hearts. Participants enjoyed breakfast, lunch, snacks, and everything else needed to get through the day – all they had to do was show up and bring their walking shoes.

The event followed the same format as previous years. Registration opened at 9.30am at the Fletchers Arms, ready for a 10.30am start.

The Route

From 9.30am registration opens at Fletchers Arms, with breakfast included
10.30am we depart from Fletchers Arms
11.30am to 12pm arrive at Spread Eagle for complimentary soft drinks, hot drinks, and snacks and a short break
12.30pm to 1.15pm arrive at Puss in Boots for a complimentary outdoor BBQ, including our famous burgers.
1.30pm to 3pm finish the walk at Jolly Sailor, where we’ll be throwing a celebratory party including music, bouncy castle, raffle, and medal collection for all finishers.

If for any reason you’re unable to complete the full route, you can join us at any point – many people join us for the final leg of the walk between Puss in Boots and Jolly Sailor.

Many participants joined us at different points along the route – particularly for the final leg between the Puss in Boots and the Jolly Sailor.

The day featured a pub pit stop at the Spread Eagle, lunch at the Puss in Boots, and a celebration party at the Jolly Sailor. If you have any questions or would like to find out more about future events, please visit our FAQs page.

One Small Step 2025 Frequently Asked Questions

How much is it to be part of the One Small Step Walk?

For adults and children over 11, entry to the One Small Step charity walk is £18 a ticket. This price includes everything you need on the day:
– A One Small Step t-shirt,
– Breakfast at the Fletchers Arms, Denton
– Snacks at the Spread Eagle, Romiley
– Lunch at the Puss in Boots, Offerton
– A £10 donation that goes straight to charity

For children of primary school age (under 11), entry is £8.
Infants under 4 are free of charge; infant t-shirts are available to purchase for £5. Please contact [email protected] or buy on the morning at the Fletchers Arms (sizes may be limited).

Is the One Small Step route pushchair friendly?

The route was planned to be scenic and as enjoyable as possible and, as a result, is mainly off-road. There are styles, narrow/ overgrown pathways, and uneven surfaces…just to make it that little bit more challenging! The route may therefore be difficult for cyclists, wheelchair users and children in prams/ buggies (although definitely doable with some helping hands!).

There will be no charge for anyone only completing part of the walk, however, please note that all refreshments and food will need to be paid for as normal. For anyone wanting to get in the spirit, One Small Step T-shirts will be available to purchase for £5 at all of the pubs. All money from the sale of the t-shirts will go straight to the FPWR UK.
We would recommend if only completing a shorter version that it is better to complete the later sections so you get to cross the finish line and enjoy the party atmosphere at Jolly Sailor.

I still have my One Small Step t-shirt from last year, can I wear this?

If you have your t-shirt from last year then please do bring it along to wear as this will save the charity significant money.

Are there vegetarian/vegan/no gluten ingredients item available on the day?

Yes of course! Please let us know your requirements in the sign-up form so that we can arrange for this to be available at the Puss in Boots (You will be given a different coloured ticket so that the pub can easily see your requirements). You can see our full vegan/vegetarian menu here, and our NGI menu here.

I am no longer able to make it, can I get my money back?

Yes of course, please just let us know so that we can arrange for your payment to be refunded. In the past we’ve found many of you have been generous when unable to attend and have donated your fee (thank you!!). If you’re unable to attend but would still like to donate your fee then please let us know as soon as you can. This way we can easily ensure the full fee goes to charity and we may be able to fill your spaces again.

Some people in the group are starting later, what should we do?

Just let us know, you can either pick up their t-shirt and meal ticket from registration or we can arrange for it to be left at a pub of your choice.

How can I get sponsors?

We’ve found the best way to fundraise is through Just Giving. You can fundraise through Just Giving in two ways.
1 – Set up your own Just Giving page. This way you’ll know how much you personally have contributed to the charity.
2 – Share our general Just Giving page between your friends and family. This saves you the job of setting it up but will make it more difficult for you to work out how much you’ve raised.
Our general Just Giving page will be up and running soon, which we will send the link out for once we have it.

You can download a paper sponsor form by following this link and print your own or pop in to one of the pubs, where we will have them available for you to pick up.

I don’t want to pay online; can I pay cash?

Yes, please just pop in to any Almond Family Pub and speak to the manager who can sign you up and take your payment
